There is an FC Porto before and after April 17th, 1982, a date that marked a historic turning point with the election of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa as president. In the previous 89 years, the Club had only won 16 trophies in football, three of them already under the leadership of the legendary director in the Football Department.

With Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa at the helm, FC Porto became European and World Champions, ten-time roller hockey champions, seven-time handball champions, six-time billiards champions, five-time football champions, increased the capacity of the Estádio das Antas, built the Estádio do Dragão, and added a museum and arena.

Years of History

Under the presidency of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, FC Porto accumulated numerous titles, while simultaneously modernizing and expanding the club's infrastructure and consolidating strategic partnerships for the Olival training centers and the Campanhã swimming pool complex.

From Porto
to the World

Never forgetting its roots, FC Porto grew with the city, and the city grew with FC Porto. The Club has more than 132 years of history, but there is one name that helped write it like no other: Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa.

His passing on February 15th, 2025, cemented this legacy forever.

The first tributes appeared spontaneously at the Estádio do Dragão.

Collection

Given the size and symbolic value of the collection, five days after his death, FC Porto initiated a rigorous process of collecting the deposited objects.

Transportation

The collected objects, due to their sentimental value, were carefully transported to the conservation and restoration area of ​​the FC Porto Museum.

Cataloging

The next step involved cataloging all of the thousands of collected objects so that conservation work could later begin.

04.

Archive

The collected objects were archived in the FC Porto Museum Reserves, from where some were removed to become part of the Permanent Memorial. The rest remain preserved in the same location where they were deposited.

05.

Construction

In September 2025, construction began on the Permanent Memorial at the Estádio do Dragão, in the access area to the locker rooms facing the Gallery with some of the most iconic images in the Club's history, many recorded during these 42 years of Presidency.
